The 9/11 Memorial Garden
In conjunction with the Avon Lake Key Club, the Avon Lake Kiwanis helped spearhead the 9/11 Memorial Garden at the Avon Lake High School. More than ____ manhours were donated to transform a vacant courtyard in the school into a memorial garden honoring those who died in 9/11 and those who gave their life serving our country.
The garden was dedicated on Sept. 11, 2008. On Dec. 17, 2009, the city honored three Avon Lake High School graduates who were killed while serving. Plaques honoring Dennis Berensteinm Jason Meiners and Michael Medders Jr., unveiled during the ceremony.
